And The Carnage Continues

Now a homicide bomber has killed NINE people at a NATO base in Afghanistan. NINE people. According to this report, none were US personnel:

A Taliban suicide car bomber targeting a NATO base at Jalalabad airport in eastern Afghanistan killed nine people on Monday, following days of deadly anti-U.S. protests over the burning of the Koran.

Six civilians, an Afghan soldier and two local guards were killed, police said, but there were no reports of NATO casualties, according to a spokesman for the U.S.-led International Security Assistance Force.

Taliban insurgents claimed responsibility for the blast, saying it was in revenge for the burning of Korans at a U.S. military base, taking the toll in six days of violent protests across the country to around 40 people.

“The foreign forces have insulted our religion and this attack was revenge,” Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid told AFP.[snip] (Click here to read the rest.)

Because KILLING people is not an “insult” to the religion?? I am pretty sure that Islam is based on both Judaism and Christianity. Murder is most definitely an affront to both those religions.

Now, Secretary Clinton is saying that the violence in Afghanistan must stop. Well, yes, I agree. It must. But when you have our people leaders, including our president, falling all over themselves to apologize for a few Korans being burned when our soldiers are being killed, as well as Afghans, I’d say that’s a bit of a mixed message, wouldn’t you?

Meanwhile, here at home, Minister Louis Farrakhan is stoking up the ire of the faithful by making a claim that someone somewhere might want to do harm to President Obama out of “racial hatred.” Not only is that kind of fear mongering WAY out of line, but is also a clear indication of the very low depths to which Obama and his minions will stoop. And what is his basis for such a scurrilous claim? No clue. No doubt, he thinks this was revealed to him or something. But it is incendiary speech, at the very least, and an attempt to incite by this religious leader, based on nothing more than his own imagination (h/t Helenk).

And speaking of here at home, recently, hc123 alerted us to a case in PA that was just shocking on so many levels. The essence of it was a man was assaulted by a Muslim for wearing a Zombie Muhammad costume at Halloween. The judge, also a Muslim, threw the case out. This is what Judge Martin said to the victim:

[snip] Last week Judge Mark Martin sided with Perce’s attacker, saying in open court that Perce would be put to death in Muslim societies for showing disrespect to Muhammad. The judge dismissed the charges against Elbayomy.

“You’re way outside your boundaries of First Amendment rights,” the judge said during the trial. [snip]

What the hell?? This is NOT a Muslim country, and judges on the bench sure as hell should not be ruling as if it is.

But it gets worse for the victim, Ernest Perce:

[snip]Perce says he has received 471 threats against his life in the short time since his attacker was acquitted.

“People have said that they would kill me, rip my eyes out, run me over, shoot me and then laugh at me, since I have blasphemed Muhammad,” he told TheDC. “They say I will be found out and hung in front of my family.”

[...]

Judge Martin also refused to allow a video taken the night of the attack to be entered as evidence.

[...]

In fact, Martin told Perce during the proceedings that “I’m a Muslim” and “I find it offensive.”

Perce says Martin held a copy of the Quran while admonishing him for disrespecting Muhammad with his costume. (Judge Martin has since denied being a Muslim.)[snip] (Click here to read the rest.)

Good grief. This is the United States of America. We have very clear laws about assault and battery. We do not look at what other countries who operate under a religious set of laws would do. This kind of thinking has no place on a judicial bench. Judge Martin should be removed immediately.

Finally, as noted yesterday, two US Military officers were assassinated by a Taliban operative. It turns out the DOD had done a story about one of them, Air Force Major J.D. Loftis (again, h/t Helenk). He was a remarkable man, like so many of our military personnel, and was well liked by everyone, including Afghans:

[snip] While on foot patrol, Maj. Loftis is bombarded by swarms of Afghan children. Laughing and smiling, they follow him for blocks. He’s made friends with every Afghan on base. Whether they’re a guard or a local contractor, they’re all on a first name basis with him.

To say the least, Maj. Loftis is quite popular with the locals.

So how has the Air Force public information officer three months into his deployment connected so well, so quickly with the average Afghan? To find out, just ask any of the locals he’s befriended. But don’t expect to understand them — the majority does not speak English.

Maj. Loftis has gained so much public praise because he’s fluent in Pashto — Southern Afghanistan’s most common language.

[...]

And Maj. Lostis’ Arabic name (Esan)? It means “The Quality of Being Generous.”[snip] (Click here to read the rest of the story about this outstanding man.)

That is the kind of man who was executed this past weekend by the Taliban.

Enough already. More than enough. Time to take a real stand against this lunacy. At least that’s what I think. What about you?

Thank you RRRA for an insightful article.
I cannot believe the reaction of our leaders to all this violence over there .
This is not going to stop as long as people, especially our top officials put their approval out there with their crazy apologies…

I cannot help but think how much our reaction to the bombings has escalated the situation…
It like the more they do over there the more our leaders come out with more apologies..In actuality I feel our leaders are we deserve what you have done to us and are doing to us

There is a reason that in hostage situations the police do not negotiate…If the police negotiate in hostage situations and other similar situations they would escalate.
There is a reason we have laws and punishments for crimes. Using letters, books, or ??? to pass information or contraband is not tolerated anywhere in the US…So why is it ok for prisoners or our enemies to do it.

Strange but Obama is the first president in our country that has seemly condoned the killing of our people. Obama and his idiot minions continued apologies, we are only telling them how right they are.
If one looks at the past reactions of previous presidents …they would so something so OPPOSITE. Past presidents would be threatening to rain down Holy H3LL on these people not be bending over to kiss their A$$ and asking for more.

Thank you, Kin. And what an insightful comment! You are so right, there IS a reason why we don’t negotiate in hostage situations, and why we don’t try and have “peace” negotiations with people who are intent upon killing us. It makes us look weak, it accomplishes nothing, and simply gives them more power.

Obama’s actions are indefensible, as far as I am concerned. He has said not word ONE abt the soldiers who were murdered. Karzai either, for that matter. As far as I know, Obama has not come out forcefully in regards to Karzai’s demand these soldiers who burned the desecrated Korans at the hands of prisoners, either. Obama, not Clinton, not Panetta, not Gen. Allen, OBAMA, should tell Karzai to stick it where the sun don’t shine, and that if his people do not stop attacking our military bases, we will unleash a fury they have not yet seen. And I am not one who usually advocates violence, not by a long shot, but this has gotten WAY out of hand.

  2. Ferd Berfle says:

This is all so disgusting, Amy. We can’t have Nativity scenes at Christmasthe time just after the Winter Solstice; we can’t have the Ten Commandments anywhere in public view; we can’t allow Christians their own beliefs with respect to the distribution of birth control, etc.

But we apologize to a religion that kills others in its name and allow its laws to be recognized alongside our Constitution.

Holy cow. Well, you know, considering Farrakhan’s recent inciting to anger, I am not surprised by this. Who knows – maybe it is a coordinated effort. Whatever the case, I blame those who have bent over backwards to appease radical Islamists for things like this, the PA guy who was assaulted and whose attacker got off because of the judge’s own personal feelings, for not calling the Fort Hood massacre what it was – a terrorist attack by a radical Islamist, and more.

      • ~~JustMe~~ says:

Choudary and his thugs! Should be turned around at his arrival at the airport PRONTO……remember they did exactly that to the EDL (English Defense League) guy, who came over to support America on 9/11…

      • kinthenorthwest says:

This is the mindset that our government is instilling in the terriorist.
H3LL the Fort Hood terroist was excused for his crimes…So they figured they can do anything and get away with it..
I mean who would dare be racist enough to call anyone a terriorist just because they are of the Muslim faith and have committed mulitiple crimes against the American people….

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy says:

Exactly, Kin, especially when they have extremist writings on their computer, or made extremist statements to their colleagues, or had been under surveillance by the FBI, or yelled out “Allahu Akbar” while gunning down soldiers. It would be COMPLETELY racist to refer to that person as a Muslim extremist. Ahem…

  4. I’m very surprised that obama hasn’t apologized to them for our nasty people causing them to blow up bombs.

Islam, btw, is not a part of Christianity or Judaism. It is believed that Mohammed is the last and only real prophet of God and that Islam “corrects” the corruption of the sacred writings of the Old and New Testaments, that Jesus Christ of merely a prophet and Christianity is in error. Think Hagar, Sarah, Ishmael and Issac. Hagar, the mother of Ishmael was sent out of Abram’s household because Sarai (Sarah) mistreated her as a result of Hagar having disrespected Sarai as wife of Abram. It’s an interesting story. The angel who visited Hagar at the spring told her to return to her mistress, Sarah, and that she, Hagar, would be given too many descendants to count. Hagar then realizes that God is the God who “sees” her. The Hebrew, Ishamael, means “to be seen.” The angel tells Hagar also that Ishmael will be a hard-bitten man who will have a fighting nature and will be set against everyone.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy says:

No, Islam is not a part of Judaism or Christianity, but it does take its foundation from Judaism, and also from Christianity. The difference is that Jesus is seen as a prophet, as you noted, not the Messiah, but they both acknowledge Abraham as the first Prophet. No question that it is separate from the other two, but they were, as I said, foundational.

Btw, Muhammad did not want his words written down lest they be taken out of context. Uh huh. I think it is safe to say they have been…

      • Yes, Islam uses Judaism and Christianity as a foundation, but only to the extent that it concedes that there is God and that Abram/Abraham was a prophet. But, Islam sees Abraham and Jesus Christ as minor prophets and Mohammad as having God’s true message. It also believes the New and Old Testaments to be corrupted and faulty and that only the word of Mohammad is the true message of God.

The person who has done their homework and knows the history of Islam very well is Anne Barnhardt. I’m sure you can guess what she thinks of Mohammed.

        • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy says:

My point from the get-go is that Islam is based on both Judaism and Christianity, two religions for which killing is a mortal sin. Yet the way radical Islam is made manifest in these riots is to revere a text more than a human life. That was the point…

            • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy says:

Precisely, Kat. They have made the text an idol…

And the irony is that the faithful were committing an act that should have gotten THEM beheaded, yet people are all freaked out over one, but not the other. Interesting.

Oh, and if I heard this correctly, it appears that Afghan workers on the base were the ones who spread the story abt the burning…

          • Ferd Berfle says:

You’re right about Islam, Amy. Without the foundation of both Judaism and Christianity, it would not exist. Mohammed was well aware of both Judaism and Christianity and needed it as a source for his religion, otherwise it would never have taken hold.

            • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy says:

Judaism was the primary foundation, of course, just as it was for Christianity (without Judaism, Christianity wouldn’t exist. Jesus was Jewish, after all.). But as noted, Islam acknowledges Jesus as a prophet.

Of course, all 3 think the other one is wrong, and there are most definitely theological differences. That said, since Islam basically observes the Ten Commandments, one would think that killing people – EXECUTING them – would be just a tad outside the accepted norm of the religion. Know what I mean?

              • Amy,
Here is an excellent article, dovetailing with your quite well.

US Military Burned Korans As a Matter of Security?
Posted on February 22, 2012 by Jason Bradley

“The Koran is not protected by international law. It’s not sovereign, nor is it an individual. It’s only respected as part of laws that govern civilized societies. However, the moment the Koran is used as tool for terrorists it becomes contraband. If the latest account proves to be true, the US military’s decision to destroy Korans believed to have been used to spread extremists messages, planning, and other forms of communication between terrorists was simply protocol.”

              • Ferd Berfle says:

I agree and I think that many Moslems whose voices are not heard, either out of fear or ignorance, would feel the same way. Those who would force Islam on us by threat of the sword or through Sharia (the Islamists) are the ones I detest and will fight.

  5. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/02/22/world/asia/nato-commander-apologizes-for-koran-disposal-in-afghanistan.html

and more to the whole store here:

“According to Afghan workers who witnessed the events, around 10 or 11 p.m. on Monday a dump truck escorted by a military vehicle drove up to the landfill at Bagram Air Base, where 20 or so Afghans work. Two uniformed NATO personnel, a man and a woman, began unloading bags of books from the back of the truck and throwing them into a pit for incineration. NATO officials said it was not yet clear if the two people were troops or civilians. Some civilians also wear military uniforms and can easily be mistaken for soldiers. The Afghan workers described the pair as Americans.”

NATO-So they must be American? Let’s keep going because it seems the precious books were actually retrieved-

Abdul Wahid, 25, another of the laborers, said he and two friends had shouted at the two people: “Don’t burn our holy book! We will give it to our mullahs!”

The two NATO personnel drew back, but two bags of books they had already thrown into the pit had begun to burn.

“We tried to put out the fire with bottles of water, and then we pulled back the bags, and the boys also pulled out the half-burned books,” said Zabiullah, referring to his co-workers.

Protests began hours later, as Afghan workers who had seen the burning emerged from the base, one or two of them carrying damaged Korans hidden in their clothes. Protests swelled through the morning and became violent as hundreds of infuriated Afghans set tires on fire and burned an external checkpoint at one of the entrances to the air base.

Shouting “Death to America” and “We don’t want them anymore,” they closed the district government building and stopped people trying to go to the center of the town, witnesses said. Some in the crowd sang Taliban songs, and several Urdu speakers, described as Pakistanis, made speeches.

By early morning Wednesday, several hundred protesters armed with rocks were blocking the way into central Kabul on the Jalalabad road. They were heading to Camp Phoenix , a NATO camp, and were trying to break through the gates. NATO soldiers were watching from towers and had their weapons pointed toward the crowd, but seemed to be trying to avoid opening fire.”

Sorry too many coincidences for me to buy this crap.Smells like a set up. So the books were retrieved, and our soldiers were killed for what exactly? The apology was given by our President for what exactly? this isn’t another beer summit morons, we lost soldiers who had families, who were doing their duty because someone believed someone else when they said they “looked” like they were American, and this is how this happened? There are no words, really, there just aren’t for such incompetence in this administration of jumping to the conclusion of always thinking the worse of Americans; I can see your pin feathers Obama, and the damned marionette string on your arms and legs you sickening puppet.

    • kinthenorthwest says:

I would not put this past the terriorists to set up our people..
They are always on the look out for ways to screw us around.
Since Obama has this Kiss A$$ mentality when it comes to persons of the Muslim faith, anyone wit 1/2 a brain could have thought thi up…

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy says:

OHMYGOSH, Katmoon – what an incredible story. It’s abt damn time the truth came out abt what really happened.

So, they weren’t even sure they WERE Americans, but they decided to blame it on us anyway, and then to proceed to cut us down? Over books that were not fit to go to any mullahs because they were being used as carrier pigeons?? And Obama APOLOGIZED for this?!

I don’t know if any of y’all saw Kirsten Powers on Special Report tonight AGAIN defending Obama’s apology, but maybe someone needs to send this to her and educate her on the reality of the situation…

    • Ferd Berfle says:

No! I’m writing my representatives about this crap. let Barry give up his salary, road trips, and golf; let Mechelle give up her endless vacations, and cut Congress’ salaries first.

      • kinthenorthwest says:

I am so very tired of the PC crap…
I am tired of watching the expensive food they eat..when so many are barely feeding their families(the # of people on the free school breakfast and lunch programs have double, with these meals sometimes being the only nutritional meals these kids get).
I am tired of watching them tour Europe…When it can’t even be a dream for many of us to even take a weekend vacation
I’m so tired of the expensive $500 tennis shoes she wears and flouts when so many have holes in their one pair of decent shoes.

Guess you could say I am so tired of the Let them eat cake attitude…while those he promised change and hope for are worse off than they have ever been…..

When you are the President of a nation and your homeless rolls, food stamp rolls, welfare rolls, and etc have more than doublde during your term…You DO NOT shove your ability to have or do whatever you want up the populations faces…

  6. I am so sick of political correctness………

“Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous main stream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a piece of shit by the clean end.”

  7. “Because KILLING people is not an “insult” to the religion?? I am pretty sure that Islam is based on both Judaism and Christianity. Murder is most definitely an affront to both those religions.”

Killing “an innocent” is verboten. The Quran actually recommends killing people who are not innocent – such as those who leave Islam, are polytheists, etc. Remember suicide bombers think they are going right to heaven, with many virgins waiting for them. And a pension for their living relatives.

To be fair the old testament is this way too I believe. Stoned for this and stoned for that. Its just Muslims thugs listen and obey to the killing instructions. And we seem to apologize and excuse it on their behalf.

Is Obama still apologizing? Is it still OK with American voters? If so we really arent the America I used to know.

    • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy says:

      Hey, hc!

Well, it’s still okay with Kirsten Powers, and the Dems seem fine with Obama apologizing, and not saying squat abt the soldiers who were killed.

Right – I do know abt the stoning, Hebrew Scriptures, and the proscriptions there, but I am talking abt like the men who were executed in cold blood who did NOTHING to warrant it.

And most Jews don’t stone people anymore. Or assassinate our soldiers. But I get your point. Mine is that there IS a prohibition against killing innocent people in the Koran, too…

And now we know that the NATO people might not have even been AMERICANS. Sheesh.
