My friend, Linda Anselmi, has been kind enough to allow me to cross-post from her blog, “Below The Salt,” her review of Pailie Abeles’ new political novel. In case you need a refresher as to who Paulie Abeles is, Linda has provided the following introduction to go along with her very good review. I hope you enjoy it, and thank you, Linda!!
P. G. Abeles a.k.a. Paulie Abeles hosted No Quarter Radio’s Sins of Omission on Blog Talk Radio during the 2008 election and afterwards interviewing a wide range of authors and political figures. Some favorites of mine were with Lily Ledbetter, Temple Grandin, Michael Hudson, and Anita Moncrief. Paulie is also the author of two children’s books — Mehitable In The House and The First Thanksgiving. Below is my review of her debut novel, a political thriller, Admit The Horse.
Admit The Horse is a fictionalized telling of the 2008 primary and general election. Not the myths developed and created by the political gods and marketed 24/7 by mass media. But the back story of ordinary citizens engaged in a historic election and participating in ways they never dreamed possible. Each person discovers or holds the key to a conflicting reality in the myth of “The One,” Senator Okono from Illinois, and his meteoric rise to the Presidency.
In ancient times a myth was considered “a sacred narrative explaining how the world and humankind came to be in their present form” (1). Myths were presented by priests and rulers and considered by the citizenry to be true stories extolling the virtues and publicizing the sins of gods, heroes and humans. But “familiarity breeds contempt” and that holds particularly true with myths.
As the citizenry began to perceive weaknesses and conflicts in the mythology of their gods and heroes, they developed alternative explanations that better reflected their own truths and reality. It is a testament to the depth of the disparity between the competing realities and the strength of the citizenry’s will to prevail that we now consider a myth to be “an imaginary or fictitious thing or person…an unproved or false collective belief that is used to justify a social institution.”(2)
P.G. Abeles’ compelling political thriller, Admit The Horse begs the reader to question and discover the historical vs mythical versions of our last presidential election. Through a complex tale that weaves a multitude of perspectives into a political “perfect storm” starting with a financial industry facing the abyss in the fall of 2007 and the death of a government employee following the creation of a fictitious birth certificate, to the political rise and untimely death of a share cropper’s daughter and the aftermath of President Okono’s financial appointees, Ms. Abeles presents a modern tale of the Trojan Horse. A gift from the enemy too beautifully crafted for the citizenry to resist, which in reality held soldiers who would bring death to the trusting citizenry as they slept.
Wisely, Ms. Abeles leaves the ending of this tale with plenty for the reader to ponder and decide. Which parts are history, mythology or fiction? Is President Okono the Trojan horse who hides the destruction that follows in his wake or merely a foot soldier riding in under the disguise of an even more beautifully crafted horse? Will the citizenry wake up to the myth of “The One” in time to save themselves? Or are the soldiers of destruction already at our bedroom doors? I can only hope Ms. Abeles upcoming novel The Madness of Crowds, about Wall Street, picks up where Admit The Horse left off.
Admit The Horse</strong> is an intricately plotted novel and outstanding début. Brava Ms. Abeles!
DId you see this RRRA???

PS you sure have a way with words RRRA …another great article.
Kin, I can take NO credit for this at all – this is all Linda Anselmi, who was kind enough to allow me to cross-post her piece on Paulie’s book. But I am sure she would appreciate the compliment!
And no, I hadn’t seen that article yet. My 7 1/2 yr old grandnephew is here this week for his Spring Break, so my checking in will be sporadic.
I’ll take a look now while he is outside playing baseball with Suzy…
You are too kind Kin. Thank you for the cross-post Amy. I’m just honored to have a chance to sit on Katz Porch.
Have fun amy….Remember to spoil him rotten…….
family joke was Grandma always surgered up the grandkids the last day because they were all hyped up on the ride home…..Untrue…I spoiled them the whole week and yea we had junk food trips all week long LOL
LOL. oh there is absolutely no danger of me NOT spoiling him rotten! He is SO much fun, and we have a total blast together. But he most definitely does want me to spend time playing with him rather than writing posts. Can you believe that? Sheesh!
ROTFL abt the sugar!! That is too funny…
Which parts are history, mythology or fiction?
========================
With That One, Amy, it’s all fiction. He isn’t an Ivy League graduate because he submitted no proof; he never went to Columbia because he submitted no proof; he wasn’t a scholar because he submitted no proof. He is no Constitutional Scholar because he submitted no proof. Begging for our indulgence or denying access to his records indicate there is no there, there.
As a scientist, I need proof of the claims otherwise they are just that and no more.
Words are only words and That One uses them to his advantage and I will use them to mine:
He must prove it!
He won’t and he’s one and done.
Oh, Ferd – I sure hope so, that Obama is one and done. But now that the Dems have somehow been able to convince women that the Reps really do want to take away their birth control (Title X, anyone?!), as a cover up for what Obama was REALLY doing (Constitution Schmonstitution), I am worried.
Along those lines, I cannot BELIEVE women are buying this in droves, but apparently, they are.
And did you see this lovely little thing? It’s more of that “flexibility” Obama is promising everyone these days: http://dailycaller.com/2012/04/02/obamas-website-pitches-post-election-flexibility-for-african-americans/
Holy smokes.
I believe people are actually coming around to the bitter truth–our President is a fraud. You should see the comments at the Daily Caller, Amy. No one is buying his brand of hogwash any longer and he’s only making it worse with his criticism a priori of the Supreme Court. He can’t close his narcissistic mouth and that is what will be his undoing. Loose lips sinks ships, don’t you know?
I sure hope so, Ferd, but then you see these polls where women are giving him the edge over Romney because of this ginned up BS they pulled off. I just cannot believe how many women BOUGHT this crap, but yet, they did. Just like the last time when from Gloria Steinem on down, they were all acting like Obama, the man who paid the women on his staff worse than the men (McCain was the opposite), who called reporters, “sweetie,” in a condescending voice, and those were the NICER things, was the biggest feminist since Betty Friedan. For crying out loud.
Anywho – I pray you are right, Brother Ferd, I surely so…
I hear you, Amy. I can only hope that real Americans, irrespective of race or sex come to their collective senses because what Barry gets away with sets a precedent that can be used by future presidents. Not good…not good at all.
And Ferd, I could not believe Obama was politicizing the SCOTUS – AGAIN. I guess he was telegraphing his intentions when he went after them in his SOTU last year.
Some “Constitutional” scholar. What a crock of hooey.
He has wrought so much damage in so such a time, hasn’t he?
Im spreading the word on the woman’s issue and the word on the book….
Hope you saw the canadian article I posted on the issue.
You go, Kin!
I may have missed it while out of town this weekend. Would you mind re-posting the link? Thanks!
I agree Ferd. Unfortunately there are still the determined Ostriches! Hopefully books like Paulie’s will get some to finally question the myths they have been told about Obama.
Amen to that, Linda. I hope so, too.
Women of America Are Being USED
The discussion (and the disagreement) has been turned on its head as the Democratic Party whips up women’s fervor with their latest con game, which is, in reality, an assault on female voters called “The War on Women.”
That the democrats would play a con like this is not surprising. What IS shocking, however, is just how easily much of the female electorate is falling for it. Not only are they (women voters) being used—a goodly number are actually assisting the democrats in their own assault.
It is simultaneously stunning and incredible. It is, in fact, the work of past masters at political propaganda in the Democratic Party and their legions of sycophants in the Mainstream Media who seek to curry favor with the Obama Administration by their obsequious flattery and willful blindness to the blatant socialist agenda unfolding at the very heart of America’s government.

Thank you for this, Kin. I can’t believe so many women are falling for this BS, too. Good grief, it is mind boggling. Truly.
Thanks!
you welcome RRRA that was only a snipet from the article…I am now trying to keep a kind of junk file in my word where I keep things like this when needed…
That’s a great idea, Kin, especially since we know things can go, um, missing from Google…
worse than that ….whitewashed…Have you forgoted how so many sites got white washed…
Like Rev Wrights, the black panthers and the list goes on..
Oh, no – they sure tried to scrub it clean, didn’t they? Still do, I guess.
Unbelievable.
Can you imagine them doing this for ANYONE else? I sure can’t.
Thanks for this great synopsis of the book. I hope lots of people will read it. Knowing that it was supposed to be based on real events, I kept googling stuff. I was just knocked out. Scary stuff. Why haven’t the Republicans capitalized on Obama’s lobbying for his slum-lord developer buddies? Why no criticism of his links with the African warlord? This book really opened my eyes to stuff I really haven’t seen other places
