49 bodies found on Mexican highway~ Implications for Border Security

I’m not sure how many of you heard about this story; It horrified me.

On Sunday morning more than forty dead bodies were found along  a highway in Mexico. The bodies were mutilated and decapitated.49 mutated bodies were discovered along a Mexican highway that  connects the metropolis of Monterrey to the United States border.According to SMH,  Adrian de la Garza, the Nuevo Leon state Attorney-General, said that the  possibility of the victims being migrants bound to the US was not being ruled  out but organized crime groups have left bodies in public places before.Read more: http://www.digitaljournal.com/article/324822#ixzz1uql81FlE
and
Home to a large petroleum refinery, Cadereyta and other nearby towns have experienced escalating bloodshed in recent months as gunmen from the Gulf Cartel and the Zetas band battle for dominance. The victims’ naked torsos were stuffed into garbage bags with their heads and hands removed, said Jorge Domene, public security spokesman for Nuevo Leon state. They were killed elsewhere as many as two days ago, he said at a news conference. A note left at the scene claimed credit for the slaughter by the Zetas and a Z was scrawled on an arch nearby.

“This is not an attack against the civilian population,” Domene said, and he noted that some of the bodies were tatooed with images of  Holy Death, an entity worshipped by many in Mexico’s criminal underworld. “That’s important to point out.”http://www.chron.com/communityblogs/atmosphere/article/Nearly-50-bodies-recovered

I believe this is a higher number than anyone killed in the middle east in war zones for the same 24 hour period. Gangland violence has killed at least 50,000 people since Calderon deployed federal forces against Mexico’s powerful gangs upon taking office in December 2006. Is this not a huge human rights, United Nations, and United States Security issue? If not, then why not? The sheer volume of death and destruction indicates more than a war on drugs bs line, this is out-and-out terror that is not dealt with and ignored by both our countries to the point where there is a security risk, aided by our own Justice departments butt licking with the entire Fast and Furious scandal. If this was the case in Afghanistan and the armed services were involved, jobs would have already been lost. But Holder still sits in charge, and our federal government concerns itself over human rights in Arizona when the good Gov. is holding the state to the standard that is Federally prescribed, as well as Sheriff Joe? What the hell is going on that more people are not concerned, and alarmed by the amount of murders and carnage created at the hands of a multitude of gangs, cartels and corrupt officials of governments on both sides of the border?

You can hear a giant sucking sound from the amount of money in resources, recovery, personnel, and federally funded programs that deal with border security, the war on drugs, the rehabilitation of the american drug addict, the court costs for children involved in these addicted families, and on and on and on. its time to let our military take care of our border, this takes care of the issue of justifying the military budget  and keeps our soldiers active in a place where only they could handle the situation, and are deserving of the employment. It also is time to hold Mexico and our own Federal government responsible for their part in lack of protection by omission(yep I made that up)-This blind eye the administration has to the danger and filth created by the criminals that have become insulated by some imagined immigration horse crap is dangerous and negligent. The only thing they have done is sign a presidential signing statement saying to freeze the funds for the gangs, yeah as if they have all their money here in de los estados unidos. For as long as they have gotten away with this and as corrupt as they are, they are deep into both governments, real deep, and are literally getting away with mass murder, right at our border.

Is this an immigration issue, you bet it is. The volume of honest immigrants coming in from Mexico is overshadowed by the survival-mule group doing what the cartels demand in order to live, or allow their families to live. The only way to shut it down, is to really shut down any chance of illegal immigration on our Southern Borders, as well as take all that damned expensive equipment and expert profiles as well as United states military and take charge of the southern border of our country. 49 bodies is a large amount of death to ignore, you can shut your eyes, but the smell will still be there. The stink of corruption-that has brought mass murder into close proximity in the boldest fashion possible meant to terrorize and intimidate.

But never mind we have to worry over wood for guitars, law enforcement officers who “might” be infringing on the rights of criminals, wasting tax payer money, and ensuring job security in the justice department by perpetuating unnecessary court proceedings to looks busy. What a farce. No one has their eyes on the ball, or in this case, the body parts.

Thanks for bringing this front and center, kat. The MSM is once again sleeping on the job, having worked lots of overtime hours to dig up all the irrelevant dirt on Romney from 50 years ago.

I have a solution: Bring back the troops from Afghanistan, particularly the 101st and place them along the Southern border. Tell the Mexican President that we are going to take out every one of these drug cartel/terrorist organizations to a man and for him to stay out of the way. We’ll get the job done, make the Mexican President’s plate a lot less full, and put other criminal enterprises on notice that there’s a new cop on the beat and he plays for keeps.

And while we’re at it, disband the DEA and legalize marijuana. We save money by getting rid of an agency that has ineptly fought an utter failure of a war on drugs and can tax the hell out of grass. Win-win.

  2. Ferd Berfle says:

If we have to have an unconstitutional Patriot Act, let’s use it to take out the enemy combatants south of our border. These cartels represent an an invading force that must be dealt with harshly. Will there be collateral casualties? Yes, but not nearly so many as there are now. I know this won’t be popular but these animals are in need of extermination for the good of both countries.

      • I know teak I read the numbers, and just had to catch my breath and wonder why in the world is there a blind eye in the direction of so much death? Who is benefiting from this would be my first question. No one allows this kind of destruction unless there is a benefit and in this case I would bet there is some kind of handshake agreement between both countries administrations, having something to do with $ and re-election campaigns.

  3. I am also quite sure this would be a relief to the decent people of Mexico and latino Americans; I mean there is no reason to ever believe they want to live under this kind of terror. That is the game the cartels have given everyone south of the border or in the united states of latino heritage a bad name; just as Dr. Jasser is an example of someone who practices the Muslim faith and fights against extremists, so do those in the hispanic community who try to live a normal life, and many, are simply trying to escape. We have to deal with the “C”riminals at our borders before we seek to deal with the illegal immigrant “c”riminals trying to escape the terror inflicted on them by the cartels, on both sides of the border. I haven’t changed my mind on illegal immigration but there has to be an examination as to is there an infiltration happening to support the cartels from within the united states, and is there also an influx of people leaving Mexico in order to survive. Asd long as we have a Justice departmen that needs help tying there shoes, all we will ever know about immigration is what the politically connected pimps of re-election select for publication.

  4. I just read that the actual number may be closer to 70 because there are so many pieces they aren’t exactly sure how many bodies there really is. This is disgusting, and I don’t know why we aren’t doing something, and I also don’t understand why they say traveling to Mexico is safe. Mexico isn’t safe and it hasn’t been for a while. Mexico is a scary place!

This also seems to be a trend in Mexico lately. At first when I clicked this I though you were referring to these stories: http://latino.foxnews.com/latino/news/2012/05/05/23-bodies-found-near-us-mexico-border/

    http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/world_now/2012/05/at-least-15-bodies-found-near-popular-us-retiree-hamlet-in-mexico.html

and here is the article that says the numbers may be closer to 70 http://www.wbur.org/npr/152666887/dozens-more-murdered-in-mexico-count-of-headless-bodies-may-near-70

  5. Thanks for posting this Katmoon. You are correct to point out that picking lettuce in Ca is not the same as growing pot on our national parks / land, or US territory along the border that have warning signs about lawlessness, posted by our own government, who by doing so admitted that it is encapable of enforcing the laws with in the territory of the US. Quite remarkable…and not cool.

    • You are welcome. there has to be an understood difference between the two; granted the cartels are running the show in Mexico, and the new election in 7 weeks in Mexico isn’t going to change a thing. the only faction that can cause a change in thise horror is how we take care of our borders. have we become afraid of the cartels ourselves, that’s what I want to know.

  6. Ferd Berfle says:

If this spills over the border, we’ll have an international incident–and a threat to the US, i.e., what in any other time would be considered a state of war. We need to put a stop to this post haste. SEAL THE BORDER until this is resolved.

    • It has spilled over the border, many times; we aren’t touching it because they are “gangs” Well isn’t Al Qaeda a pretty damned big gang as well? Dead is dead, yes? 49 murders, with mutilation ain’t by a car accident. This a deliberate act of intimidation.

  7. Ferd Berfle says:

Now the government is using drones on US citizens. Great.

We can spy on American citizens but can’t profile illegals. We can investigate militias but not Moslem extremists. We can run guns to Mexico to kill their citizens and our border agents but can’t force an Attorney general to testify honestly about what really happened. We can use drones to “gather information” so that a ‘situation” doesn’t get out of control because it’s “cheaper than helicopters”. We are our own worst enemies. We’re back to the future–1984 style.

We need to throw out each and every fucking bum in Congress who doesn’t find this un-American and continue to throw them out until they get it. If this gets any worse, we’re doomed. B. Hussein Obama is only the tip of the iceberg.

    • The use of drones should not be allowed over US territory without a warrent and certified flight path.

Over Pakistan Iran Iraq the ME…these are military assests. The use of drones domestically by civilian authorities is the coming of the Terminator and the seeds of “skynet”. Not so long from now, we will use robotic warriors and warfare will seek to remove the “human element”, becauses it’s cheaper and humans are just plain dumb. Why let them make choices?
We are flying drones over Mexico and they are our neighbor. I wonder what would happen if Canada flew drones over our lands? Hail Canada?

      • Ferd Berfle says:

Even with a “certified” flight path, we would be relying on the government to be an honest broker, Teak. It isn’t. The hard right and hard left are together on this one. Even the ACLU is against it as is someone of the stature of Charles Krauthammer, who actually got on a soapbox about this.

I’m waiting for someone with a high-powered rifle (0.50 caliber) to take one out and then take it to SCOTUS if arrested.

        • As soon as I clicked “reply” , I knew I was off base. Your spot on.

I was merely attempting to resolve the hypocritical nature of drones…as we can fly them anywhere else in the world but not here. When looked at from a Mexican’s point of view, who we are not officially at war with, it’s similar to the “shoe on the other foot”. I am sure the Mexican’s dispise the reality of drones over their country. I detest them on ours. The genie is out of the bottle… This government has been using drone tech domestically since 9/11.

The feed from these birds makes HD outdated.

          • Ferd Berfle says:

I understand, Teak, and agree with you about the use of drones. They are military instruments which should be used only in military situations. That doesn’t include US sovereign territory.

  8. This administration hasn’t earned a single paycheck from their unpassed budget of the last three years. Every single move is simply political gain, for future with no idea to handle the real problems, which get worse due to being ignored daily by this inept administration.

  9. Travel Warning for Mexico (February 8, 2012)

The Department of State has issued this Travel Warning to inform U.S. citizens about the security situation in Mexico. General information on the overall security situation is provided immediately below. For information on security conditions in specific regio
ns of Mexico, which can vary, travelers should reference the state-by-state assessments further below.

Hasn’t been updated on the Dept of State since feb 2012

The information I got from a website for Mexico Highways
    http://matamoros.usconsulate.gov/securityannouncement/mexico-messages.html

    • Ferd Berfle says:

It will never happen, yttik. The MSM is too preoccupied running down more important news such as the high school life of Mitt Romney and how Scott Brown is making an issue out of Elizabeth Warren’s self-proclaimed but non-existent native ancestry.

Real news does not interest them.

  10. Dept of Transportation in Texas has Stats information, but nothing recent. It is very scary.
here are the deaths in Texas related to the cartels at this particular site/crossing area
Not updated since A year ago: https://www.txdps.state.tx.us/PublicInformation/cartelCrimeStats.htm

    for example-

Since 2009, there have been 25 homicides in Texas related to cartel criminal activity. The assessment of whether a crime was related to the Mexican cartels is based upon the best available information from ongoing investigations, confidential informants and intelligence reporting.

Crimes linked to the cartels will be added or in some instances reduced based upon new information to indicate that it was or was not related to the Mexican cartels.

Details on cartel related murders in Texas:

    Date: 19 APR 2011
    Location: Palmview, TX
Description: One male victim was shot from behind.

    Date: 30 SEPT 2010
    Location: Brownsville, TX
Description: Two male victims were shot to death in a pickup truck with Mexican license plates that was riddled with bullets.

  11. I get my stats from a few site’s I have found to be reliable, if not graphic at times.

    Mundonarco

m3report which I fine useful for it’s archives and bluntness. They have a disclaimer which says it all.

**Asterisk denotes death involving a police officer or a member of the military serving in that capacity. Some items may be from notirex.com, lapoliciaca.com or historiasdelnarco.com. There are too many killings to list all of them.

  12. Woth the quick read….
From the ElPaso Times recent… Zetas cartel -Mara Salvatruchas alliance in Mexico unites brutal gangs”

Previously armed mainly with handguns, Maras, recognizable by intimidating, dark tattoos that cover swaths of their bodies and often their faces, have begun carrying AR-15, M-16 and AK-47 assault rifles and military fragmentation grenades.
In the city of Villanueva in January, a group of Maras armed with assault rifles burst into a suburban disco and opened fire on a meeting of rivals, killing five people.

and for the icing on the cake..

Valdemar said he expects that the next president of Mexico will probably enter a peace treaty with the drug cartels “to reduce the violence and stop their growth.”
