A Good Day, An Example Of True Goodness, And Grand Cayman

Yes, today is a good day, indeed. Both Governor Scott Walker and Lt. Governor Rebecca Kleefisch survived, no, THRIVED, in a recall election with both winning handily. Once again, for the second time in two years, the voice of the people have spoken, and these are the two people Wisconsinites want at the helm of their state. Enough of the end-runs by those who aren’t mature enough to lose fair and square. They can take their marbles and go home, and throw their tantrums there. Enough of dragging down an entire state as a result of their petulance. So, yes, a good day, indeed.

And my Andy Petitte, the Raging Cajun, who un-retired and came back to the NY Yankees, is in fine form, even thogh he missed all of Spring Training. Yes, he won his game last night 7-0. Not too shabby for an “old man,” huh? I admit, this pales in terms of the Walker/Kleefisch wins, but still, it was cool.

Also cool, no, profoundly touching and an example of true human kindness, is this story about a high school track runner, Meghan Vogel. What this young woman did truly gives me hope for our future. Seriously. To see a young woman do what she did is heartwarming enough, but what she said after ward is even more inspiring.

Carney said the president was “aware of the recall election,” but “not following it minute-by-minute.”

Florida Morning: Voter purge showdown set;

Gov. Rick Scott’s administration is positioning itself for a showdown with the U.S. Department of Justice for demanding that Florida cease searching for and purging noncitizen voters.

The DOJ gave Florida until Wednesday to respond to a letter, sent last week, that said the purge probably ran afoul of two federal voting laws. Florida will respond, but it probably won’t quit its effort and will likely ask the DOJ to clarify its interpretation of the federal laws it cited.
