“MSNBC Must Be MSNB-Sad…”

That was Jon Stewart’s take over MSNBC’s absurd, even delusional, reporting about the recall results for Gov. Scott Walker Tuesday night. I have seen other posts about how incredibly bad the “reporting” was on the MSNBO channel, but to see these people, who are PAID for this crap, by the way, go on the way they did was just laughable. So, for your Friday reading, a little comic relief. Hey, it beats the hell out of watching Obama’s press conference, doesn’t it?

Thanks to Newsbusters’ Noel Sheppard for having the transcript of Stewart’s bit (there is a video, too, but YouTube won’t allow it, but here is a link to watch it):

[...]JON STEWART, HOST: If Fox was high, MSNBC must be MSNB-Sad.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

ED SCHULTZ, MSNBC: To say that I’m shocked and stunned is pretty much an understatement.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

STEWART: “Shocked and stunned is an understatement. No, it feels tonight more like my heart was f—ked by the devil. Continue reading

What’s Up with Bohner?

For some time, it has been suggested that House Speaker John Boehner and fellow Republican leaders have quietly “discouraged” the Contempt of Congress filing against the Attorney General from going forward. This suspicion was confirmed when CBS News reported the Republican leadership would “…slow [Issa’s] drive to hold the attorney general in contempt over the controversial Fast and Furious program …” for a period of “a month or even longer…”

Some believe that Republican reluctance to move ahead results from not having the necessary votes in the full House. Others are concerned that the contempt filing would be “off message.” Representative Dan Burton made it clear that the leadership wanted to focus on the economy rather than the criminal nature of the Attorney General. And no small number believe Speaker Boehner just doesn’t have the guts to bring a contempt charge in an election year.

Sen. John McCain is pressing the case for a special outside counsel investigation of the White House in response to recent leaks of national security information that he says were politically motivated.
Speaking Thursday night on Fox News’ Sean Hannity show, McCain said he also plans to push for a sense of the Senate resolution, possibly as early as Monday, calling for the appointment of a special counsel.
“We have asked for a special counsel,” the Arizona Republican said. “The Justice Department and the White House have rejected that out of hand.”

Infor on Independent Counsel:

It should also not be confused with the “independent counsel” who is appointed by the Attorney General pursuant to United States Department of Justice regulations. 28 Code of Federal Regulations 600.1. There have been three independent counsels of this type regarding the following: the Iran/Contra investigation in 1987 (sec. 601.1); Edwin Meese III and the Wedtech case in 1987 (sec. 602.1); and President and Ms. Clinton in the Madison Guaranty/Whitewater case in 1994 (sec. 603.1). Finally, it should also not be confused with the appointment in 2003 of Patrick Fitzgerald (“United States Department of Justice Office of the Special Counsel”) regarding the investigation into the public naming of CIA spy Valerie Plame. This was done pursuant to the general statutory authority of the Attorney General.[1]
