Thomas Sowell Telling it like it Is & Open Thread

I have complained frequently about the attempt to reframe and redefine words, that we all know damned good and well what the correct definition is; although I am sure Al Sharpton would say this is a “white definition, of privilege -PUKE. I bring up good old Al and the NAACP, along with (I am bat-shit crazy) Pelosi.

Apparently being part of a committee designated for oversight on how our government behaves, or doesn’t is equal to being racist. Yet the only racists I see in the political circus, are predictably, the black members of the House Oversight and Government Reform (OGR) Committee; we already know what a pandering media whore Al Sharpton is,and as of this administration the NAACP.

Here is an excellent example of promoting racism in group think and sheep politics,  for how blacks must stick together:http://blackagendareport.com/. I believe if this were a non-black site we would liken it to the KKK; actually I have no doubt. What has always seemed curious is how being separate is encouraged while still screaming and carrying on about how non-inclusive blacks choose to be politically. That being said I must say I have very little respect for any politician who doesn’t have the guts to get over whatever skin color is being dealt with, and I am damned sick of whites being the favorite whipping post for the lack of perception types like Al Sharpton use as metaphorical diving rods to create a black counter-culture, not remotely interested in over-all “fairness”, just black fairness (which indeed does not seem to have the same definition as fairness for everyone else). Is there a separate dictionary for different races, and political parties, it sure seems like there is.  I am not surprised at the second bite at the bigot apple by Obama, and I do not feel his recent behavior of total ignorance and application of the law to be related, no matter what he tries to portray, one must look beyond skin color. The man is a stone cold narcissist as we have said before and right now his ego has gone totally out of control. Those who enable his addiction to power, such as Pelosi and Al Sharpton, are there only to further their own agenda, and riding the racism coattails seeking to hold whatever power they believe themselves to have. Flight of fancy and magical thinking from on high as not only continued to produce an environment that is racially charged, it is also one that encourages either more of the same behavior, or outright attack by this administration, ask Gov. Brewer if you don’t believe me; she and Arizona are being punished for not adhering to King Obama’s master plan for his version of equality reality in the United States. Sharpton apparently has stated he has “events” planned should the House go forward with the Contempt vote, Wow(psych) not shocked at all. I am tired of the American people, all cultures and shades being cast guilty in the Sharpton/Obama court of  racism. That song got really tiresome long ago, a nd is truly contemptible. I am also sick of ass kissing politicians such as Pelosi encouraging this racial division. We the people are not as stupid(yes, some are, but they are focused on what “they” can have handed to them) as the politicians believe us to be or like to present us as being. How many times have you heard “that is too complicated for the voting public”-this is the excuse used over and over for not telling the truth to voters. Not sure if that is your take on it, but it sure sounds like we are being talked down to by these self-appointed intelligistas. I love what Thomas Sowell wrote about this topic, and he only chose a few of the “buzz” words being used this cycle, by God he nails it.

Oh and one last thought for the idiot republicans pushing and pushing for Romney to come up with this or that right now in one of the most media self consumed weeks in memory-Shut-up! He will get to it, and right now timing is everything, especially when the Dems, and this administration are in the middle of a public melt down, and refusing to allow for help to put out their own fires. This is a definite cutting off the nose moment, and Romney has the luxury to stay clear while we have the vote on Contempt and the decision on Healthcare from the Supreme Court. Let the Dems stir their poison pot of political diatribes and transparent pseudo-politically expedient justifications, voters are sick of this administration, and it is showing. The louder the volume is turned on the Dem whine machine, you know the party desperation is at a fever pitch; no need to add fuel to that fire, they are self-immolating and blaming everyone else, refusing to extinguish these flames they have stoked and kept burning for way too long.

I read this fantastic article by Thomas Sowell:

A Political Glossary, Part I: http://townhall.com/columnists/thomassowell/2012/06/26/a_political_glossary

A Political Glossary, Part II:

http://townhall.com/columnists/thomassowell/2012/06/27/a_political_glossary_part_ii

………Some of us may want to see a definition of what is “fair.” But a concrete definition would destroy the versatility of the word, which is what makes it so useful politically. (part I)

“Making a distinction between external and internal reasons for failing to reach one’s goal would clarify the meaning of the word “access.” But clarification would destroy the political usefulness of the word, along with the government programs that this word is used to justify.” (part II)

  1. I too get frustrated with definition changes. I’m tired of this, “equal but separate” crap that goes on with all minorities/social groups/political parties. It seems to be a wide spectrum problem, even within “whites”. We are separated into these weird subcategories, then lumped in with everyone else, it’s like “grading on a curve” but instead of it being the difference between an A or a B, it’s the difference of being able to get financial aid for school, or not, affordable healthcare, or not.. and other similar situations. As for the Democrats and the Republicans, I’m sick of both of them! In my life time there hasn’t been a single president who has one, lived up expectations, two, not been detrimental to the country’s overall well being and three, not been a total nut job, either publicly, or privately. Now, usually when I make statements like that someone always says, “well what about Clinton, he was good” And my answer is always “you’ve got to be kidding me!”.

anyway, thanks for sharing those articles, straight forward ad to the point! I’m a fan. :)

  2. Thanks Sinister, and you are up early too I see. :) Always appreciate your comments. I agree it can make a break a person on how the ‘racial deivide is handled by the hendlers perception. eing a mixed brown person, I don’t see things in colors, I wasn’t raised that way, and I resent being forced now to live within those very narrow parameters. Most presidents at least make an effort to follow the law, not use race or encourage their party to as an outright onslaught on the constitution. There is so much right now that is being thrown to see what will stick to the wall, and I agree with you I am sick and tired of anyone who wants to ride the race train. I do not have expectations of a President delivering perfectly on every promise, but I will not allow them to try and play that promise into a blame game, and both sides have done, just never to this insane extreme. Have a great morning and again appreciate your support.

    • Yes! exactly! Like, I know what some people will say by me saying this, but it’s like equal opportunity employment, that’s just fancy words for, “we will hire the less qualified to fill a quota”! I wasn’t raised to see in color either, and I also dislike being forced to see things that way, it goes against everything my parents taught me about equality.

You are right though, most presidents at least make an effort, or appear to make an effort to follow the law, but the past decade things have really changed in regards to that. It’s like they don’t even care anymore. I also don’t expect a president to follow through on everything they promise, but they could at least try to accomplish some of it! LOL! *sigh* it’s sad.

And I am glad to know I am not the only one that noticed the blame game, that’s getting real old!

Oh, and it’s actually not morning where I am, it’s 2:30pm :) But you have a great morning! :)

  3. Just a reminder of the Federal responsibility being refused for Arizona

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the largest investigative agency in the Department of Homeland Security, is responsible for enforcing the nation’s immigration and customs laws. ICE has more than 20,000 employees working in 400 offices in the U.S. and around the world http://www.ice.gov/careers/index.htm

It is such hypocrisy and politics! Liberal Washington state actually has laws much harsher than Arizona’s and nobody makes a peep. We not only have a partnership with the federal government, three years ago we copied and implemented Arizona’s exact same laws! The media never even talks about because the narrative is about “racist,” Republican Arizona. If the truth were known, it would spoil the theme the Dems are trying to push.

      • This is true, but our border is Canada, so, that’s why no one talks about it. ;) Also, I’m not sure if many people know this about the border states, but, if you live 100 miles from the borders (for Wa, it’s along the coast and canada) you have no rights. The government can legally search you for no reason, come into your home, search property, wire taps, ect.. because the boarders don’t fall under the same federal laws as everywhere else.

      • Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy says:

CA has pretty strict laws, too, the “Sanctuary Cities” notwithstanding. But it’s the same thing – it all depends on who has the most access to the MS , and I think we know who that is. The lack of coverage by the MSM of Fast and Furious says it all…

        • That Fast and Furious crap really makes me mad!! i mean… really angry! They realize there have been mass beheadings and other horrifying cases of gang violence right? And we give them untraceable guns… i don’t even know what to say about it.. It’s just so…’dafuq’

I lived in California for a while, and it’s a weird place, on one had they will be very strict with the law, then the next minute they will let illegals take refuse, and protect them under our bill of rights! When I lived in SF the Illegal immigrants had a parade. It’ was like “we’re here, we’re illegal and mooching off your system, get used to it”. It was one of the strangest things I had ever seen! I didn’t understand why they weren’t being arrested. lol

  4. Sassy Minor says:

Having watched debates on C-Span for years, I’m still not convinced that a contempt vote will proceed. The only logical conclusion to Fast and Furious is that once the tracking process of weapons backfired, they would only be recovered at a crime scene. Someone in the Justice Department authorized wire taps pertaining to this failed endeavor. Who?
I’m angry about the hollow victory of Arizona’s immigration measure. Law officers can still determine the status of detainees, but to what end? ICE responds exclusively to arrests of felons. We know that several of the 9/11 terrorists had been stopped for misdemeanors, and we suffered the terrible consequences of their release!
Megyn Kelly’s guests discussed that Justice did not litigate Arizona’s law on the basis of racial profilling, but would line up cases to continue to challenge the state, and others, on that premise.
Incidentially, my reference to that discussion was censored on a blog that I frequent, or did. I had seen similar complaints, but now know that at least two sites that laud the Constitution do not support free speech that refutes their misinformation.

    • I am sorry to hear your comments were censored, not cool. I take it they either were not comfortable with conflicting opinions, or just liked specific commenter’s? I am not sure either if the vote will go through, either, I hope it does. You can bet your ass if this had occurred in the non-government community the people/persons involved would lose jobs, be jailed be fined, and end up in civil court as well. I hope the vote passes, it is long past due to get over party affiliation and for some damned politician to grow a set and represent the people of the entire country, not just Washington D.C..

I really enjoy Sowell. Agree on the soothsayers in the R party. STFU and get on board. Romney’s people are running a splendid campsign so leave them alone. One fun example is their use of Alinsky mocking humor back at them in the “Win a dinner with Barack and Michelle” and the letter from the idiot organizer to potential winners that they will pay transportation, hotel, etc., but not the mini-bar. Might have been a joke that failed, nevertheless the R campaign jumped right in, offering to pay the costs for anything from the mini bar saying no one deserved to be subjected to dinner with the O’s sober. What a difference from the dour, incompetent 2008 campaign. Yes, they know what they are doing. Can you imagine Romney’s response to the “financial debacle” that derailed McCain? He’d have taken charge and come away looking good.

    • Madame, Good morning. I agree, I am all about letting Romney do his thing, he didn’t end up as the last man standing in a second bid for the Republican party candidate choice, by accident. He has all the time in the world right now to let the dems choke on it. Besides there is way to much up in the air in every faction of every department under Obama’s control right now; and as we saw with the recent immigration plagiarism, Obama is not beyond stealing solutions, while blaming the very people he cheats from-Ask Rubio. The congressional leaks and ass kissers couldn’t wait to deliver a sound plan like the one Rubio was working on, to keep their idol in play. Same thing with the economy, Romney can only go into a certain degree of detail without having an outright theft occurring, and claim of victory from the Dems, who wasted their time and our money on the pig of a health care bill, while Rome began to burn.

        • Madame,

I think Rubio could overcome whatever they try to throw at him. We were traveling this weekend and we were able to listen to a long interview with Rubio, and he strikes me as a very sincere person, who means business and isn’t easily intimidated.

  6. Madame deFarge says:

Excuse the typos. IPhones are not easy to use for blogginng. Also I didn’t mean to infer that making fun of the idiots is their one plus rather they are quick on the uptake and that’s a very good sign of great campaigning. Romney is being smart to stay completely one pointed and focused on the economy. Disciplined. People must know you can’t achieve business success without being tough.

  7. Sassy Minor says:

It’s good to see some of the old gang! My online time has been limited by family obligations.
Romney is both qualified to run the country, and his campaign! Someone defined an “expert” as a person who has made every possible mistake in his particular field. LOL! That sums up the current denizens of the White House!
I’m anticipating the ruling on Obamacare, but have also heard discussions that Obama may circumvent the Court by implementing any provisions that survive, despite financial or political costs. Voters beware!!!!
Katmoon, I tried to register with your cool site, but WordPress put me through the wringer some months ago. LOL! No legitimate usernames, no capitals, I’ll give it another try when I have a full day. I prefer my avatar with my comments. Hope oowawa is well!

    From Huffingtonpost
Judge Refuses To Block Florida Voter Purge
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — A federal judge has refused to stop Florida from removing potentially non-U.S. citizens from its rolls.
The U.S. Department of Justice sued the state to halt the purge, arguing it was going on too close to a federal election.
U.S. District Judge Robert Hinkle said Wednesday that there was nothing in federal voting laws that prevent the state from identifying non-U.S. citizens even if it comes less than 90 days before the Aug. 14 election.
Hinkle ruled that federal laws are designed to block states from removing eligible voters close to an election. He said they are not designed to stop states from blocking voters who should have never been allowed to cast ballots in the first place.
Gov. Rick Scott praised Hinkle’s decision, saying “irreparable harm will result if non-citizens are allowed to vote.”

What next…Now Holder is using the race card…
First it was this was political step by the Republicans during an electon year when this could have been solved last year if they had not been lying…

    Then Obama invokes Executive priviledge

    From Politico

Black lawmakers plan walkout during contempt vote
The Congressional Black Caucus plans to walk off the House floor during tomorrow’s votes to hold Attorney General Holder in contempt of Congress, according to a letter being circulated among members of Congress.

“We adamantly oppose this partisan attack and refuse to participate in any vote that would tarnish the image of Congress or of an attorney general who has done nothing but work tirelessly to protect the rights of the American people. We must reflect upon why we are elected to this body and choose now to stand up for justice,” the CBC members wrote in a copy of the letter obtained by POLITICO. “We call upon all members of Congress to stand with us during a press conference on the Capitol Building steps during this appalling series of votes to discuss our nation’s most significant priority — creating jobs. At this critically important time in our nation, we must work as colleagues rather than political enemies.”

In particular, CBC members are hoping to garner support for their move from members of other minority and liberal groups, including Hispanics, Asians and the Congressional Progressive Caucus.

“Instead of focusing on job creation and other critical issues before this Congress, we have been asked to engage in a political stunt on the floor of the United States House of Representatives. Our constituents elected us to do real work, not to engage in meaningless partisan activity,” they wrote.

LOL – I was just telling Suzy the other day how you and Robert quote me on that – she thought it was hilarious!

And can I just say how sick and tired I am of the whole race card being played?! It is racist to not hold someone to the same standards as everyone else. And if a regular person had been subpoenaed, and thumbed their nose at it, they would already be in jail!!
