Our Stagnant Nation~Disgust

Reason is not automatic. Those who deny it cannot be conquered by it. Do not count on them. Leave them alone.

~Ayn Rand

No kidding; but in the meanwhile when a true majority really isn’t being represented, thanks to a media of sycophants and 90% of the politicians functioning as nothing more than pimps for their own stable of lobbyists, what are we left to do in the mean time other than stagnate and stink? How legal can it be at this point to have gone this long without a federal budget? The Congress or at least half of it are the voice of the people not the hand servants of the President, yet one would not know this after the last four years. The pervasive attitude that demands respects and attention by this administration is one that does not give what it demands, equal respect and attention. Suffice to say Obama does not seem to have ever mastered the ability to share equally in a conversion, brainstorming or problem solving without speaking in terms of demands. One cannot change the attitude of an individual who functions as a Regent and not a President. Not matter what occurs in the next 3 years this man and his administration will continue the trash and burn of what they see fit, what is in their way of their ultimate idealism, whatever that is. Use Our Constitution? Nah – Try South Africa’s!

So speaks Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. No, seriously – she did. I can scarcely believe it myself, especially from someone who is tasked with determining constitutionality of cases, but there you have it.

And to make her statement even worse, check out how she made it, according to The Daily Caller:

[snip] I would not look to the U.S. Constitution if I were drafting a constitution in the year 2012,” Ginsburg said in the interview, which aired on Jan. 30 on Al-Hayat TV.

Her comments have stunned writers across the conservative blogosphere, though many major media outlets have not given much attention to it.

In the interview, she argued that the United States has the “oldest written constitution still in force in the world,” so instead “you should certainly be aided by all the constitution-writing that has gone one since the end of World War II.”

“I might look at the constitution of South Africa,” Ginsburg said. “That was a deliberate attempt to have a fundamental instrument of government that embraced basic human rights, had an independent judiciary.”

I am struggling with what to say here – how can I adequately convey what a disastrous message this is from a sitting US Supreme Court Member?! Perhaps I am struggling because the scope of what she is saying is so widespread, it is impossible to address it in just one post. I can say this: it is shocking, appalling, and disturbing, to put it mildly. Continue reading
