The Hill Poll: Majority of voters blame president for bad economy

By Sheldon Alberts – 07/23/12 05:00 AM ET

Two-thirds of likely voters say the weak economy is Washington’s fault, and more blame President Obama than anybody else, according to a new poll for The Hill.

Obama’s Tall Tales, Whoppers and Fish Stories

Oh, he’s done plenty of story-telling.
  Published: 7/19/2012 9:46 AM ET

In a CBS interview this past week, the president remarkably asserted that, in his first term, he has gotten all the policy right. His only mistake was not telling a good enough story to the American people.

He may not have told them well, but Obama really can’t be faulted for not telling audacious ones. His nose should be long enough to hang laundry on by now.

Take, for example, his continually repeated story that he has not and will not raise taxes on anybody earning less than his fantastical benchmark of The Evil Rich Who Aren’t Paying Their Fair Share – $250,000.00 yearly income.

Unless Congress acts before year-end, the tax rate on dividends, currently 15 percent, can more than double, to 39.6 percent.  Obama would have you think those impacted by this hike are fat cat oil barons sitting around the country club, brandy snifters and cigars in hands, sneering at the economic suffering of the little people. According to an Ernst & Young study, the facts are much different. More than two-thirds of the households with dividend income on their tax returns have household incomes below $100,000.00. Also, over half of these investors are over age 50 – including, of course, many retirees trying to live on these dividends.

NBC’s Isikoff Links Bush to Gun Used in Aurora  Shootings

Appearing on the Saturday, July 21, Melissa Harris-Perry show on  MSNBC, NBC correspondent Michael Isikoff – formerly of Newsweek – made  a point of noting that one of the guns used in the Aurora theater massacre used  to be illegal under the assault weapons ban, as if shooter James Holmes could  not simply have purchased a different gun to assist in his murder spree.
Isikoff asserted that the assault weapons ban, which expired in 2004, “was  lifted under President Bush,” and noted that President Obama had “pledged during  his campaign to restore it” but that “he has dropped that issue.” Isikoff:

(Video can be found  here.)

What we do know is that he purchased those four weapons  recovered from him, the two Glock pistols, the shotgun, and that AR-15 assault  rifle, legally in Colorado, although it is worth mentioning – and this is  something gun control groups are emphasizing today – that that AR-15 is  something that was illegal as recently as 10 years ago.
There was an  assault weapons ban in this country from 1994 to 2004 that was lifted under  President Bush. President Obama had pledged during his campaign to restore it.  He has dropped that issue, so the assault, that AR-15 is a legal weapon now but  was not 10 years go.

Bill Maher: ‘George Zimmerman Is Sean Hannity’s Missing White  Girl’

By:      Noel Sheppard      |    July 22, 2012 |  19:31

I’m not sure what he meant by it, but HBO’s Bill Maher said  Saturday on Twitter that Trayvon Martin killer George Zimmerman “is Sean Hannity’s missing  white girl.”

One gets the sense that along with much of the liberal media, Maher wasn’t  pleased with Zimmerman’s interview on Fox News last week:

How Do You Compromise with a Progressive?

http://townhall.com/columnists/derekhunter/2012/05/20/negotiating_with_sterrorists_junkiess_progressives

I forced myself to watch Bill Maher this Friday as I was trying to chart out this column. Thankfully I hadn’t just eaten.

It was sickening to listen as cerebral dwarves Maher and some not-so-bright jackass from the fascist rag The Nation talked about how Republicans and the Tea Party are evil and the cause of all our economic problems while Rhodes Scholar and former U.S. Sen. Bill Bradley, D-N.J. sat there smirking like a broken Muppet. The world in which progressives live makes the world J.K. Rowling created for Harry Potter seem normal.

Obama’s Manger: What if Kenya’s a Little Town in Hawaii?

http://townhall.com/columnists/douggiles/2012/05/20/obamas_manger_what_if_kenyas_a_little_town_in_hawaii

Who the heck was Obama getting to hawk his books back in the ‘90s when he was doing coke and weed and hanging out with Marxists? Whoever it was, it is now causing quite a bit of consternation for BHO’s camp because they put on his bio that he was born in Kenya. This publication, apparently, even confused Michelle about Barack’s country of origin, as this video points out.

Kenya? Now, what kind of crap publishing company gets the nation of origin wrong for a rising star and does not correct it until 16 years later when he begins his bid for the Oval Office?

SACRIFICIAL SCAMS

The real class warfare in this country isn’t rich vs. poor, it’s government employees vs. we, the taxpayers, who pay their salaries.
Working for the government is supposed to be a trade-off: You can’t be fired and don’t have to exert yourself, but you will receive smaller remuneration than in the private sector, where layoffs are common (especially in the Obama economy!). Instead, government jobs are safe, secure, pressure-free — and now, amazingly lucrative!
Whether it’s in Wisconsin, Illinois, California or the nation’s capital, today’s public sector workers expect to do little or no work (I’m not counting partying in Las Vegas as “work”), and then be lavishly compensated. Often, the only heavy lifting they do all week is picking up their paychecks.

Occupy Jail

Relatives say arrested NATO terror suspects were Occupy protesters

CHICAGO (AP) — Three activists who traveled to Chicago for a NATO summit were  accused Saturday of manufacturing Molotov cocktails in a plot to attack  President Barack Obama’s campaign headquarters, Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s home and  other targets.

But defense lawyers shot back that Chicago police had trumped up the charges  to frighten peaceful protesters away, telling a judge it was undercover officers  known by the activists as “Mo” and “Gloves” who brought the firebombs to a South  Side apartment where the men were arrested.

Allen West and the Leavenworth 10

Human Events

John Hayward

U.S. soldiers rot in prison while a terrorist killer goes free.

Representative Allen West (R-FL) has long been an advocate for the “Leavenworth 10,” American troops imprisoned at Fort Leavenworth for actions taken during the heat of battle in the War on Terror.

For example, while serving in Iraq, 1st Lieutenant Michael Behenna of the Army Rangers was escorting a known al-Qaeda terror operative named Ali Mansur home, following an Army Intelligence order to release him from custody.  Lt. Behenna, who believed Mansur had been involved in an attack that killed two members of his platoon, decided to interrogate the al-Qaeda man during this journey.  During the interrogation, Behenna threatened Mansur with a pistol.  Mansur made a play for the gun, and Behenna shot him.

The American soldier was convicted of unpremeditated murder in a combat zone, and sentenced to 25 years in prison, later reduced to 15 years by a judicial order and a military clemency board.  The sentence was based, in part, on the notion that since Behenna’s interrogation of Mansur was unauthorized, his right to employ deadly force in self-defense was suspended.  Some experts in the complex art of “battlefield forensics” questioned Behenna’s account of the shooting, although others have spoken in support of him.  Several appeals have been filed, with the most recent appeal still under consideration.

Friday, May 18 is Michael Behenna’s 29th birthday.  It is the fourth birthday he has spent in prison.

Rep. West himself was discharged from the Army, where he held the rank of lieutenant colonel, for discharging his firearm near a prisoner, during an interrogation that West credits with helping to shut down deadly sniper attacks from Saddam Hussein loyalists against his unit.  For this, he is routinely described as a “war criminal” by left-wing extremists.

So now Chris Matthews isn’t the only one experiencing a little thrill when he thinks about Barack (omit middle name) Obama. The recent revelation that from the early 1990s until the day before yesterday—or, to be more accurate, until Obama made his decision to run for president—a biographical pamphlet circulated by his literary agents described him as having been “born in Kenya” has been setting the world of Twitter atwitter.

What should we think about that? An agency spokesman who claims to have been responsible for the “born in Kenya” wheeze has publicly said that it was a mistake, a typographical error, a slip of the pen that just went “unchecked” for, um, sixteen-seventeen years. I can understand that. She meant to write “Hawaii” and wrote “Kenya” instead. Could happen to anyone. They look and sound enough alike, don’t they,  that no one noticed. You meant to write “there” and you wrote “their” instead. You meant to write “cup” and you wrote “floccinaucinihilipilification” instead. No one—no one at the literary agency, not the author himself—could be expected to notice. You understand that, right?

Well, maybe that is an unprofitable line of inquiry. However it happened, the take-away here is not that Obama was really born in Kenya.  As my friend Roger Simon points out in “The Mystery of the Kenyan Birth,” the noteworthy thing is that it is one more puff in the cloud of unknowing that surrounds the president.
